PTA Walkathon

Dear Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary Central Campus Families,

We ask your support for a very special fundraising campaign. This campaign runs through November 1. It culminates with a super-fun event, the Pines Charter Central PTA Walkathon, which will take place on Thursday, November 9. Every dollar raised will be used to support the Pines Charter Central PTA and our school activities. The PTA is a volunteer group of parents, teachers and staff who work together to enhance our children’s education. 100% of ALL the money raised directly benefits our children.

How can you help? During the next few days we ask that you solicit sponsorship pledges from friends, neighbors, and family members.

How much does a pledge cost? Pledges are a flat fee of $25. Money will be collected in cash, check, or can also be made online on our website: walkathon pledge form.  If pledging by check, please make checks out to “PPCES Central PTA”.

Is there a minimum donation required for participation? The minimum donation for student participation in the walk-a-thon is $25.  After the minimum pledge, any other additional amounts are welcome!

When is the pledge money due? All money is due now through Wednesday, November 1.

What happens on the day of the Walkathon? All participating students will partake in a variety of activities that include the walk around the outdoor sport fields (weather permitting).  We will have a live DJ, and various stations dedicated to fun sports activities, shade, and water, fruits and snacks for the walkers.  Suggested dress attire: spirit shirt and uniform bottoms with comfortable sports shoes.

 Will there be prizes? Every walker will receive a participation gift.  For students with multiple pledges, we will have additional prizes as incentives.

Will there be any volunteer opportunities on the day of the Walk-A-Thon?  Yes, there will be many ways you can assist on the day of the event.  (Volunteer hours are available for volunteering or for donations.)

– Staffing the stations to monitor the students

– Providing refreshments and snacks to the students during the event

– Organizing sports activities

If you cannot join us for the event, please consider donating:

– Bottled water       – Juice boxes          – Ice bags         – Snack-size chips, cookies, etc.

– Snack size cut up fruit or whole fruit     – Plastic forks

We could also use small tents and coolers for the day of the event.

We ask everyone who is participating to please use safety measures when soliciting pledges, never ask strangers for donations. We also ask that you fill out the field trip authorization form and turn it in along with the pledges to your teacher as soon as possible.
